My studies in Oceanography and Environmental Sciences helped foster my career while my passion for photography grew with each photography course. From working on the yearbook, to developing film and printmaking for individuals, government and industry, photography for me has been about sharing information that helps bring a better understanding of what surrounds us.
After graduating from FIT I took a job with the county where I worked photographing building permits. After a few months I moved to San Ramon California where I took a job at a petroleum exploration laboratory. My initial responsibility was to look for fossils in core (rock) samples. Given my photography knowledge they gave me the opportunity to be the in-house technical photographer where we expanded our staff and services.
This experience gave me the resources to continue studies in photography at UC Berkeley, work with San Francisco State University’s Photography Department, and develop prints to be displayed at The Smithsonian Arts & Industries Museum. I opened my own photo studio and darkroom for portraits and printmaking, and worked with Pacific Camera in San Francisco to provide custom printing services. Later, I took a job with the Air Quality District that turned into a career. My photographs were used to document and educate which lead to improvements in bay area air quality.
In addition to my professional experience, my works have been displayed at venues including Vernon’s in Vermont, Calle Court Gallery in Monterey, and at Nita’s Treasures and Maui Fine Arts in HI. I am currently showing at the Blackhawk Gallery in Danville CA at the Spring Flower Exhibit from April 26 thru July 20, 2025.
“Photographing something that has never been seen before is exhilarating, an image that shows a familiar subject in a way never seen is truly inspiring.”
